What Is

Walk For Freedom?

It's a day of global awareness and local action in the fight against human trafficking.

On Saturday, October 16, thousands of abolitionists will hit the streets in hundreds of cities across the globe to walk in a single file line–holding posters and handing out flyers–to reach their city with the message of human trafficking and how to end it.

Why Walk?

Together, we walk for...

Olegimage

Protecting The Vulnerable

Oleg* was like many young boys his age in Ukraine—recently graduated and ready to explore the world in front of him. So when he and his friends were offered promising jobs abroad, they accepted. Once they arrived, their new employer told them to hand over their passports and documentation. But Oleg and his friends remembered what an A21 presenter had taught them–to never give their passports away. Immediately, Oleg became suspicious of his employer and he and his friends ran away. They soon found out they had avoided a very dangerous situation.

Selaiamge

Assisting Victims to Freedom

Sela* is a 7-year-old girl near a small village in Cambodia. Taken from her village by a family member, she and other children were forced to beg on the streets each night. She was beaten and denied food if she didn't return with enough money–until one day the Thai police discovered the kids and assisted them to safety. Without family to return to, Sela felt alone until she was connected to A21 and placed with a loving foster family.

Survivors To Experience Restoration

Mia* accepted a job offer in South Africa—excited to build a life that she had always wanted and pursue her dreams. But when she arrived, it was all a lie. Mia was beaten repeatedly, then forced to recruit other girls to work in a club and brothel. She was given a phone to recruit with, but instead, she contacted a family member. Worried for Mia’s safety, her family called our South African National Human Trafficking Hotline. Our team was able to make contact with her, and she was able to convince her traffickers to let her leave the property to get food. Mia bravely ran for it, and our call specialist guided her to a safe location using Google Maps. Now, she is safe, free, and reunited with her family.
