Chan Illustration

Chan:

Chan* is from a rural village in Cambodia who was sold across borders to a forced begging ring. His family was deceived by a recruiter who offered families compensation if they allowed their children to travel for a summer job.

Severely physically abused, denied food, water and forced to work extended hours, Chan* spent his nights begging for money—beaten if he didn’t return with enough.

One day during a police raid, Chan* was assisted to safety along with a group of children forced to beg in a popular tourist area and taken to our Child Advocacy Center where he was identified as a victim of human trafficking.

We assisted his return back to Cambodia and helped him reunite with his family. In tears, his mother said, “I didn’t know if I would ever see you again”.

This is the power of your giving. A new beginning for Chan who is now studying to catch up with his age group, and dreams to one day be a famous musician. A new beginning for our brand new operations in Cambodia to assist more children like Chan in Cambodia. A new beginning for the entire Southeast Asian region. This holiday season, give the gift that ends slavery and brings freedom to more lives around the world.

Lena Illustration

Lena:

Lena* grew up in a rural community in the Mekong region. One day, a couple came to her house and presented to her and her family a prosperous job opportunity for her in Thailand. It seemed too good to be true.

But after arriving in Thailand, the job was not what it seemed. Instead, she was sexually exploited—forced to consume alcohol, severely abused and at times locked up by her trafficker. She worked long hours in terrible conditions without pay

Thankfully Lena was found by authorities and her trafficker was arrested. A21 was able to help repatriate her back home to her family—after arriving, she sad in tears,

“I didn’t know if I would ever see my family again.”

But this was just the start of restoration for Lena. Your giving provided a new beginning filled with hope for the future—receiving regular counseling from A21 social workers, and vocational training to pursue her dream of one day opening her own bakery. Your support is the difference between slavery ending and freedom beginning. For lives like Lena around the world.

Johnny:

Johnny* usually spent his days studying and playing with other children in his community. But his family owed a debt—and one day, Johnny was taken from them and forced to beg for money in Thailand to pay back the debt.

He worked long days and nights in a popular night club area. When he didn’t make enough money for his trafficker, he would be physically abused, leaving scars on his body. But after a police raid, Johnny was brought into the safety of our Child Advocacy Center in Pattaya, Thailand where he was given basic support. Once he was comfortable to share, the testimony he gave our social workers was used in the prosecution of his trafficker.

Your support not only ended slavery in Johnny’s life—it restored a new beginning of freedom and hope. Our team in Thailand was able to locate Johnny’s family in his home country and coordinate his repatriation back home. Today, he is safe with his family, in school, and a leading player on his school’s basketball team. He also gathers other children outside of the team to play basketball together. He dreams to one day become a professional basketball player and represent his country.

Your giving has the power to end child trafficking, exploitation, and abuse—and begin a life of freedom, hope, and restoration. This Christmas, give new beginnings for the millions more like Johnny around the world

Leah Illustration

Leah:

Leah* was raised in a slum community with very little. Her parents were unable to support her, and left Leah to the care of a family friend. But the caregiver had other plans for Leah—she brought her across an illegal border to Thailand.

Upon arriving in Thailand, Leah was dropped off on a street corner, beaten, and forced to beg for money. If she was unable to meet the money quota for the day, Leah was physically punished. Leah was often forced to sleep on the street, hungry and terrified for her life. She couldn’t speak the language and ask for help.

One day during a night outreach program, Leah was spotted by an A21 social worker who was able to communicate with her in her native language. She could finally ask for help. With the help of law enforcement, she was assisted to safety, and A21 was able to repatriate Leah back home to Cambodia and her trafficker was arrested.

Through your support, Leah was given a new beginning. After arriving in Cambodia, she was welcomed into a foster care home with a loving family—experiencing many things for the first time like visiting a dentist and enrolling in school. Leah made friends within her community and quickly built a life of her own. She enrolled in a catch up education program to advance her skills in reading and writing. One of her greatest strengths is the ability to learn quickly and she wants to keep studying hard so one day she can help other children living on the street.

There are still many like Leah who feel like there is no place to turn to. And this Christmas, your gift can bring a new beginning— of safety, freedom, and a normal childhood to more children like Leah around the world.

Deepen Our Impact in Southeast Asia and the World.

Your support is the reason why lives are experiencing restoration. Why the millions enslaved around the world have hope for a better future.

And that is why we are so excited to announce our new Child Advocacy Center (CAC) and office in Cambodia—because this means you are continuing to end slavery and begin a journey of freedom for lives in Southeast Asia.

With 55% of the survivors we have assisted in Thailand having come from the city of Poipet, and surrounding rural areas in Cambodia, and 64% of those cases being minors, we believe that operations in Cambodia will stop slavery at its root—expanding prevention efforts within these vulnerable communities, and bringing restoration to more survivors of human trafficking..

Your continued generosity will mean new beginnings. For the one child. The one nation. For a world that is free.
