A-Teams is you. It is us. We are a global community of abolitionists determined to leave our mark on history. From coffee shops to campuses, places of work to places of worship, A-Teams are wherever you are; bringing their time, talent, and influence to create real change. A-Teams are an extension of A21 and the fuel behind the mission–going to unreached places with the message of freedom. we believe that with grit, tenacity, and dedication, we can abolish slavery everywhere, forever. Sound epic? It is. And you are invited to join us.
WE KNOW THAT SLAVERY WILL NOT END ON ITS OWN. WE’RE STRONGER AND MORE EFFECTIVE WHEN WE COME TOGETHER AS A TEAM UNDER ONE MISSION. AS LONG AS HUMAN TRAFFICKING EXISTS, SO WILL A-TEAMS.
"My name is Brittney Borders and I am the leader of an A-Team in Brandywine, Maryland. Our A-Team started almost 2 years ago. It started when I was invited to attend a human trafficking awareness event put on by my church. About 100 people showed up to the event, and from there, I was inspired to start my A-Team! Since then, we have hosted several talent shows and collaborated with several businesses to raise awareness and funds. Last year our team was able to raise over $50,000 as well as host our first Walk for Freedom in Washington D.C. with well over 500 people in attendance.
With the help of my team, I also started a nail polish brand where a portion of every sale is contributed to our mission to end modern-day slavery. We have been fortunate enough to be invited to meet with government officials to influence the education of Human Trafficking in our local community, as well as gaining the opportunity to teach A21’s ShineHope program to young girls. We are so glad we have the chance to assist A21 to reach, rescue, and restore one life at a time."
"My name is a Tina Ai. My world was turned upside down learning about the issue of human trafficking, and I've never been the same since. God broke my heart for the voiceless, those enduring unfathomable suffering and opened my eyes to the reality of what was happening to humanity across the world.
Even though I was volunteering for A21, I still felt like I wanted to do more. So I started an A21 fundraising page and asked people to donate through my social media, email, and face-to-face. I believe in raising awareness in hopes that others will be inspired by my passion to be a part of something greater than myself.
In my free time, my husband and i enjoy discovering new restaurants, cheering on the USC Trojans Football Team, traveling, going to Christian leadership conferences, and Christian worship concerts!"
"My name is Adrián Contreras and I lead an A-team in Mexico. we started over 2 years ago. Through A21´s Education Program (Bodies are not commodities), we have reached 1,800 students and have brought human trafficking awareness to more than 20 schools & universities. Our team is fueled by the radical hope that everything we do has an impact in our city.
We hosted talks with survivors from local NGO´s to equip and empower them. we have also provided counseling and education though the SHINEhope Program, reaching over 100 women, including Young girls. We have been invited to meet with government officials to influence the education program nationally. We work closely with National Human Trafficking Hotline to identify victims through the resource lines.
We truly believe that change is possible. we will eradicate slavery at every level, and work as a bridge to help A21 free slaves, disrupt the demand, and reach the vulnerable. We believe we can create history together."
